Walla Walla’s Christian Aid Center aims to open a new facility by this time next year to provide shelter and hope for women and their children who fall into homelessness.

Fundraising for its Gift of Grace campaign is at 75 percent of the goal for the $4.85 million project, the center said in a news release Thursday. With a little more than $1 million to raise, groundbreaking is scheduled for late summer with a targeted opening date in spring 2018.

Homeless women with children in Walla Walla have limited options for shelter, Christian Aid’s marketing and donor relations spokeswoman Corina Car said in the release.
