Arts and culture are a vital component of a well-rounded community and a thriving ecosystem. Nonprofits in this sector nurture creativity and inspiration in individuals, families, businesses, and schools, and we value our partnership with all those who work to enrich our lives with transformational art and programming.

Capacity Building: Oregon

In 2016 twelve arts and culture organizations in Oregon completed a two-year training cohort to build their capacities. Supported by a collective of eight foundations, these arts organizations took part in formal seminars, online master classes, and individualized consultations in an effort to foster sustainability and long-term growth to continue to deliver quality programs and services to Oregonians. The cohort made significant advances in artistic planning, board development, marketing and fundraising, and institutional marketing.

Boise State University

Boise State Public Radio

Transmitting to southern and central Idaho, Boise State Public Radio connects nearly 1 million listeners to NPR news, programming, classical music, and jazz. The Trust helped the radio station purchase a new transmitter, audio processing equipment, a back-up generator, and other essential equipment to help improve its broadcasting and ensure that it continues to reach listeners with important public radio content.

Japanese Garden Society of Oregon

Japanese Garden Society of Oregon

Located in the heart of Portland, the Japanese Garden contains five distinct garden styles representing 1,300 years of historical development in Japanese gardens and culture. It is a unique teaching garden and is world-renowned for its authenticity and beauty. The Trust helped fund the expansion of its facilities to provide a space for visitors to immerse themselves in traditional Japanese arts through activities and performances, and to establish an institute for teaching Japanese garden design and maintenance.
