2020 is an important year for the Murdock Trust as it marks our 45th anniversary serving individuals, families and communities across the Pacific Northwest. Whenever we reach an anniversary of note or cross a significant milestone, we are always excited to celebrate because these moments are really a testament to the countless nonprofits we have been fortunate to partner with through the years and their contributions to the common good. We often say that “the fruit of our labor grows on the trees of others.” Simply put, the Murdock Trust would not exist were it not for the tireless dedication of the individuals and organizations that comprise the nonprofit sector.

With this in mind, we began the year with plans to mark this milestone in a few key ways, including taking the opportunity to meet and celebrate in-person with grantees, nonprofits and partners across the Pacific Northwest. However, the COVID-19 pandemic has made this sort of in-person gathering a non-starter for the time being.

While we are excited to gather again with our grantees and partners when it is once again safe to do so, we did not want this moment to pass completely without taking a moment to recognize the countless fruitful partnerships we have been fortunate to participate in with nonprofits across our region, as well as take a bit of a look back at how the Trust itself has grown over four-and-a-half decades.

Today, we are excited to share a brief timeline of the Trust’s history that we think sheds light on our focus and celebrates the consistent commitment of the nonprofit sector throughout the Pacific Northwest. As the summer continues, we’ll be sharing more stories of grantees and how their hard work over the last 45 years has helped serve and support the common good of the Pacific Northwest in innovative and sustainable ways.

To our grantees, partners and all nonprofits serving the Pacific Northwest, we look forward to seeing you in-person once again soon. In the meantime, we say thank you for allowing us to partner in your work and mission through the years and for all that you do to serve the common good.
