The Murdock Trust is heartbroken to learn of the passing of Dr. T. Allen Bethel, president of the Albina Ministerial Alliance, senior pastor at Maranatha Church and a leader of community service in the Portland region for decades.
A voice for the voiceless, Reverend Bethel’s thoughtful, inspirational, inclusive, collaborative approach was an example and encouragement to those who sought positive change and a better tomorrow for all. At the Murdock Trust, we were fortunate to meet and partner with Reverend Bethel on many occasions throughout the years. His wisdom energy and spirit strengthened and informed our work and the work of those we seek to serve.
We are grateful for his tireless service and desire to see that every individual and family in our community had an opportunity to flourish and we are grateful for all those he inspired who will continue his work forward.
Words cannot express what this loss means to the city of Portland and the Pacific Northwest. Our thoughts, prayers and love are with his family his congregation leaders whom he mentored and particularly Portland’s Black community and all whose lives were impacted by this great man. Rest In Peace T. Allen. Well done thy good and faithful servant!
